The worst customer service I have ever…

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. I don't say this lightly they have been totally useless other than one employee who helped us design our kitchen and even then we are a year down the line with no kitchen and he is powerless to help.
Contact with them is non existent have spoken to a Manager after over an hours wait on the line on a couple of occasions and then nothing comes from it with no follow up contact. I have sent numerous emails with details that get ignored and have received nothing back from my email of complaint what's so ever. One would think communication would be key to a trusted company. To say we are frustrated is an understatement.

Low quality Ikea Idanäs bed

Had bad experience with their bed Idanäs in size 160x200, in dark brown color.
Bed itself is very well thought of regarding assembly and function, but finish quality is on low level. And bed is not that cheap. There are lot of marks and spots on wood, differences in wood coloration, bad assembled nuts. Usually this is not the case with Ikea.
What prompted me to write here is lack of wilingness from their side to publish my recension on their official Web page.

Ikea is the most unorganized company…

Ikea is the most unorganized company when ordering for delivery. Ordered a shoe cabinet. Told there were 6 in stock. I was given a delivery date and time. They charged my card within minutes. One week later no cabinet and no update. Called them and they tell me it was never in stock but on backorder. Now to get a refund they say it will take 7-10 business days. Thats BS. How can they charge my card in minutes but it takes 7-10 days for a refund.
Very poor operation. Would not order again from IKEA.

Why does Ikea even bother offering…

Why does Ikea even bother offering delivery services when they are that utterly useless. After 4 failed attempts to receive the shipment I canceled my order. I wasted 4 afternoons / mornings waiting for the delivery. All the customer service had to say is sorry. I feel sorry for the people who work in this company. Certainly the last time I ordered or tried to buy anything from IKEA

Shipping Ripoff

I placed a large order, so large that at checkout many of the items were not in stock, so I reduced the order to all of the items they showed as in stock. I wasn't happy reducing my order as they charge for delivery no matter how much you spend so I prefer to get my money's worth. On delivery day they only bring 2/3 of the stuff I ordered and the rest doesn't show up, several hours later I get an email from Ikea saying my items weren't available at the time they were loading the truck so they are refunding me and I can re-order again. They won't offer free shipping for the parts they missed, I should also mention the parts still show as in stock on the site so it's not as though they aren't in stock and it was an inventory glitch, the only glitch was the lazy effers who did not load the truck right. No reply to customer service emails. The pandemic has clearly shaken what was once a half decent place to shop.

Don't buy anything online

Ordered a feeding chair for my baby. It came without the safety belt. No matter how many phone calls, or emails I cannot reach them, they always say someone will call me back to offer a replacement. So now I have a chair that's is pretty much useless, I won't put my child up there unattended.

Can't knock the value

Bought in store some furniture for my living room. Easy to put up, looks good - not the best quality but great for the price, value spot on.

The website's checkout constantly infuriates me

I find checking out infuriating. All items on the website should be able to be ordered. The fact that you can't purchase items as the order is too small is maddening and the fact that only the all white affluent areas seem to stock ALL the small items you would want and furniture again makes me really angry. Every single item shown on that website should be available to be shipped even if your store is low in stock. Or out of stock. Ok so it'ed low ion stock at my store and you can't ship it to me? Why. Why should I have to oder $140 more merchandise when all I want is two pot holders, a couple of zip bags and a coat hanger.

I find it troubling that they don't have stores in black and brown neighborhoods, or seem to ship many things to those same neighborhood seems rather racist, like the don't want to invest in neighborhoods that don't sport their target shopper.

Please don't waste my time and show me items I can not buy on the website. Or can't buy if stock is low at my closest store. And please make sure that you are stocking as many of those small items in the white upper middle class neighborhood stores as you are from the store that invites more diverse shoppers and a lot of lower middle class shoppers. As the message come off like we're afraid you might steal a pot holder or hook.

Some store always seem to have EVERYTHING in stock and plentiful inventory while others are always sold out or low stock. If that's a case someone is not doing their job properly and anticipating customer demand, or there is a not so subtle economic form of racism being applied. Let's keep those rich white folks down here happy, not so concerned about that store smack in a working middle class neighborhood, that caters more to students, veterans, shift workers, truck drivers, single mothers, and people of color. Guess what... we like buying those same items too, so please keep them in stock, rather than one store always having everything in stock and another always tapped out and on fumes.

Or have the items ship out from the store with a lot of stock. The "this order is too small to ship and you have to spend this much is just gross and again seems to be a bowing to the rich. Find a tiny box and ship it for crying out loud. Nothing is too small to ship but an ant. Someone should be looking into where they won't ship items or deliver furniture as I can guarantee in my experience there seems to be a racial component there as well.

There should be a reasonable household limit on how many of something people buy as what has been happening in recent years is that people will go to an Ikea empty all the stock on small items and then resell them on Amazon and Ebay at double and triple the price. Do they should not be able to let some one but 150 closet lights, 100 mirrors, or sea grass napkin holders.

If you order something online for…

If you order something online for pick-up, they can cancel it without notifying you. A trip to the store for nothing. About 50% chance of pleasant customer support.

Over an hour on hold, £14.62 phone bill for this call.

I ordered something that was £5 by post, I made a small mistake and tried to cancel. But the website said I couldn't cancel at this time, so I tried webchat and nobody connected. So I tried to use returns, web form said I couldn't return at this time. So I tried online chat again, nobody responded for 1 hour. There was no email address, so I phoned and eventually somebody answered after an hour of listening to Abba.

The phone call lasted 63 minutes, I was charged £14.62 for that phone call. Their phone number is charged different rates for different providers. I have just got my phone bill today. No warning of phone charges on their website.

Answer This Question

Q:

What made you choose IKEA over similar businesses?

A:

I chose IKEA because we like the quality, price, style and it's pretty easy to put together. We have purchased several items, besides the latest, which are the desk and chair. Our other items were a king-size bed, with a headboard, dresser, 2 nightstands, desk, bookcases, bedding and a mirror. Everything arrived in perfect condition and was easy to assemble.
